Our Story

It Started With Listening

In 2021, in the middle of COVID, Dr. Shabtab Elahi Dad Khan opened a small homeopathic clinic on Darga Road — Soul Clinic — meant to be simple, just a place for physical healing. But something kept happening in that little room: while taking down a patient’s symptoms, she’d ask about their relationships, their daily life, the things weighing on them, because in homeopathy the mind and body are never separate, and that’s when people would begin to cry — not because they were unwell, but because no one had asked how they were doing in a long time — and session after session they’d leave saying the same thing, that just talking to her made them feel lighter, that half their illness felt cured simply from being heard, and that’s when she realized healing doesn’t always come from medicine, sometimes it comes from simply being listened to. Around the same time, she’d started learning yoga, first for herself, then training formally as an instructor and weaving it into her patients’ treatment, watching in real time how the body, the breath, and the mind were never three separate things to treat but one person asking to be seen whole. Around this time she also met Dr. Fakhra Masroor, who shared the same belief — that an allopath and a homeopath didn’t need to stay in separate corners, that different systems of medicine could work together rather than compete — and together, as co-founders, they built that belief into Soul Clinic itself, and it was this very idea of bringing different systems together that, over time, reshaped what the clinic was meant to be, so much so that Soul Clinic eventually became The Soul Wellness, a name that finally matched the holistic vision the two of them had been building toward all along. So instead of pursuing a Master’s in Homeopathy, Dr. Elahi enrolled in Clinical Psychology, and it was there that she met Shreya Agarwal and Oindrila Chakrabarti, classmates who carried the same restlessness, the same conviction that no single path holds every answer — every pathy has its own strength, and its own limits, so why not bring them together for the person who actually needs the help — and that conviction is what brought them on as co-founders too, to lead the mental health department with the same care Dr. Elahi and Dr. Fakhra had brought to their very first patients, and today the team has grown to include physiotherapists, dietitians, and practitioners of Ayurveda and Unani, but the belief at the center hasn’t moved an inch — that prevention matters more than cure, that every person deserves to be treated as a whole human being and not a set of symptoms, and that healing, more often than not, starts with someone willing to listen.

OUR MISSION

To treat every person as a whole human being, not a set of symptoms — bringing together homeopathy, yoga, and psychology under one roof so that no one has to choose between healing their body and healing their mind. We exist to make holistic, evidence-informed care accessible in Kolkata, to listen before we diagnose, and to remind people that seeking help for their mental and emotional wellbeing is no different from seeking help for anything else.

OUR VISION

A society where prevention is valued as much as cure, where mental health is spoken about as openly as physical health, and where healing means growth — not just the absence of illness. We envision Soul Wellness as a space that keeps expanding this idea: more systems of care working together, more people reached, more lives touched by the simple belief that every person deserves to be seen, heard, and treated as whole.
